Dear Families and Friends,

New Year & New School Upgrades The summer was long, hot, and laborious as the Academy prepared for the new academic year. However, the most striking difference of the summer months was the keenly felt absence of little souls eager to learn and progress in virtue. So, it was with great joy that the whole staff received the students back on the opening day of the school year. For their part, the students encountered with joy and surprise many nova et vetera–new things and old.

The children returned with enthusiasm to the familiar essentials of their Catholic education: we invoked the help of The Holy Ghost in the opening Sung Mass asking Him to “enkindle in our hearts the fire of His divine love;” our priests and religious taught the immutable doctrine of the faith are imparted in religion classes; and, of course, our competent faculty shared enduring truths in even greater depth.

However, many new things were found among the old, piquing the returning students’ curiosity. The students found the campus had been transformed during the long break thanks to the generosity of Colleen Johnson and under the watchful eye of Br. Benedict. The classrooms had been rearranged to accommodate for higher numbers of students and anticipated future growth. New courses had been added to the curriculum using the time saved by the adjusted Mass schedule. Finally, many new staff and students had been warmly welcomed to the Academy.

Beginning this new school year, then, let us entrust ourselves, your children, and your families to the care of Our Lady of Sorrows. We ask that she may guide and direct us this academic year towards our end which is nothing less than Our Lord Jesus Christ, her beloved Son.

In the Sorrowful Heart of Our Mother,

Father Samuel Fabula
