Lenten Season at the Academy

Dear Families and Friends,
“Remember man, that thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return.” We have begun the Lenten season and the children are reminded of our humble origins not only by the ashes they receive on Ash Wednesday but also by the dusty path they walk on everyday in the Academy.
The Academy, due to your generosity during the Soirée, has embarked on a campus improvement project focused on revitalizing our school grounds. This started last week with the removal of all the cement pathways, trees, and familiar landmarks on campus. As the campus is slowly transformed by the revitalizing work, we hope the children with their generous Lenten resolutions will likewise be revitalized.
The children are encouraged to have two resolutions: one negative and one positive. The removal of the “debris” from their souls is done by a negative resolution: the children clear away obstacles to God’s grace. The positive resolution disposes their souls to be beautified by the grace of God, opens their souls to His work.
I am praying that your families and the Academy have a holy and fruitful Lenten season. We remain united through our mutual prayers and sacrifices for the students’ growth in holiness.
In the Sorrowful Heart of Our Mother,
Fr. Samuel Fabula
Principal
