Spelling Bee 2024
Our Lady of Sorrows Academy held their first official Scripps Spelling Bee on December 6th, 2024. This event was kindly organized by Mrs. Plascencia, Our Lady of Sorrows Academy teacher for upper academy math, English and language arts. The panel of judges was made up of three teachers: Miss Babic, Miss Delmanowski and Mrs. Plascencia.
The spelling bee took place at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) where parents were able to watch and cheer for the students. There was an air of nervousness and anticipation among the 3rd to 8th grade students as they waited their turn to walk on stage. Prizes were awarded for first place for each grade as well as trophies for the top three school spellers. The first-place winner of the entire bee , Charity P., is moving on to the regional spelling bee here in Phoenix.
