The OLOS Performing Arts Center was, for a weekend, transformed into the streets of Paris after the French Revolution

Most high schools would not attempt a Dickensian novel to adapt to the stage. But the students of Our Lady of Sorrows deftly brought the 1859 classic to South Phoenix.

Spanning the time before and during the French Revolution, the students vividly captured Dickens' portrayal of the horrors contained in the slogan "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity."

With a cast of mostly high-school students, save a touching entrance by the young "murdered" Giuseppe DeMark, the efficient scene transitions, impressive lighting, and convincing performances made a daunting challenge into a resounding success.

Directed by teachers Mr. Noel Arellano, Miss Anne Matlock, and Miss Maria Merz, along with alumnus Mr. Gabriel DeMark, A Tale of Two Cities was a beautiful example of students' ability to rise to the occasion and outperform expectations under excellent teachers.
